Transit Declaration (T1) · T1 / TAD
Lets non-EU goods travel through the EU under customs control without paying duties at the border — e.g. from Klaipėda port to a customs warehouse inland or onward to another country.
- Issued by
- The principal — usually the forwarder or haulier — lodged in the NCTS system with a guarantee covering the duties.
- When it's needed
- When goods not yet released for free circulation are moved from one customs office to another.
- Transport
- Road, Rail, Sea
What it contains
- Principal and guarantee reference
- Offices of departure and destination (and transit, if any)
- Description of goods, HS codes, packages and weights
- Means of transport and seals
- Time limit for presenting the goods at destination
Practical tips
- The transit must be closed at the office of destination within the time limit — otherwise the duties are claimed from the principal.
- Don't break the seals: an opened seal turns a transit into a customs incident.
